Governor Nassir mourns death of Mombasa Inspectorate Officer Modir Abdalla Bwanamzee

The Governor of Mombasa County, Abdulswamad Nassir, has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic death of Modir Abdalla Bwanamzee, a County Inspectorate Officer who lost his life in a traffic accident while on duty at the Kengeleni intersection.

In a statement on Saturday, January 17, 2026, Nassir revealed that Officer Modir had recently been formally recruited into the County Inspectorate Service, serving in the Traffic Division at the time of the accident. 

“It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I convey my heartfelt condolences following the tragic passing of Modir Abdalla Bwanamzee, who lost his life as a result of an unfortunate traffic accident while on duty at the Kengeleni intersection,” he announced.

Even before joining the service, he had been an active volunteer with the Storm Water Response Team, earning recognition for his dedication, selflessness, and commitment to public safety.

Further, the governor highlighted Officer Modir’s journey from volunteer work to frontline service, describing him as a man of courage, duty, and unwavering love for public service.

“His life was defined by service. He gave his life while faithfully serving the public, a sacrifice that will not be forgotten,” the governor said.

Additionally, Governor Abdulswamad extended his condolences to Officer Modir’s family, friends, and colleagues, assuring them that the County Government of Mombasa stands with them in this time of grief.

“On behalf of the County Government of Mombasa and the people we serve, I extend my deepest sympathies. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy of service continue to inspire us all,” he added.
