Geoffrey Mosiria’s appeal raises over Ksh100K for physically challenged woman cared for by her son
By Ascah Mwango, January 22, 2026Nairobi County Government’s Citizen Engagement and Customer Care boss, Geoffrey Mosiria, has given an update on a fundraising appeal he launched to support a physically challenged woman being cared for by her son.
In a statement shared via his X account on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Mosiria announced that Kenyans of goodwill had raised over Ksh100,000 to help the woman begin her medical treatment.
“GOOD NEWS. Yesterday, after I responded to a call to help this young man caring for his ailing mother, Kenyans of goodwill came through powerfully. Through your generosity, we were able to raise over KSh 100,000, giving his mother a chance to begin her treatment journey,” Mosiria stated.
Mosiria explained that the woman is paralysed on one side and fully depends on her son for care. As the firstborn, the young man has taken on full responsibility for her daily needs despite having no other support.
“The mother is paralysed on one side, and as the firstborn, this young man has carried the full responsibility of caring for her with incredible courage and sacrifice,” he said.
According to Mosiria, the young man managed to take his mother to the hospital, where she was given a medical appointment scheduled for the following day. He also visited Medipal Medical Supplies, where he purchased a wheelchair for her.
“In a remarkable show of compassion, the company went further and donated a walker and a motorbike to help ease the boy’s mobility and daily caregiving responsibilities,” Mosiria added.
Despite the milestone, Mosiria noted that the funds raised so far are not enough to meet the family’s medical and caregiving needs. He appealed to Kenyans to continue supporting the family.
“However, the funds raised so far will not be sufficient to fully meet the family’s medical and caregiving needs. If you are willing and able to support them with any amount, your contribution will make a meaningful difference,” he said.
Mosiria said he was moved by the young man’s situation after learning that he had no one else to help him care for his mother. The family also has a younger daughter who is currently living in a children’s home.
In an earlier appeal shared on his Facebook account on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Mosiria posted a video showing the young man caring for his mother and called on well-wishers to help.
“Please help this young man take his mother to the hospital. She is paralysed and unable to walk or work. He is the only person taking care of her,” Mosiria wrote.
“He also has a 9-year-old sister who is currently in a children’s home, as he has no one else to help him,” he added.
Mosiria further highlighted the heavy responsibility the young man has taken on, including bathing his mother and changing her diaper.
“Imagine how painful it is for a son to bathe his own mother, change her diapers, and turn her at night whenever she needs assistance,” he said.
According to Mosiria, the family needs at least Ksh500,000 for the woman’s medication, an amount they have been unable to raise on their own.
“He is trying to raise KSh 500,000 for her medication. Ni uchungu mkubwa sana. Kindly help him,” Mosiria appealed.
