Brenda Majune, the immediate former chair lady of Daughters of Gideon Moi group now wants to start a Daughters of William Ruto team.
Majune, who was part of the Nick Salat team that officially joined President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) from KANU on March 15, now believes that working with the President is a good idea.
“I am moving to UDA, not just to look for greener pastures but also to find my space as a young person; where my talents and wit can be utilized and rewarded in equal measure. My starting point is ‘Daughters of William Ruto,” Majune said.
Interestingly, she founded and chaired the ‘Daughters of Gideon Moi’, an organization that was working with women in Arid and Semi-Arid Counties in Kenya before the 2022 general election that saw Ruto win the presidency.
At the time of her exit from KANU, Brenda, just like Nick Salat, was sitting at the party’s highest decision-making organ, the National Executive Council (NEC) where she was appointed by Gideon as the treasurer for the KANU Women Congress.
Before ditching KANU, Nick Salat was the party’s Secretary General.
In UDA, she says she is keen on working with the office of the First Daughter Charlene Ruto to alleviate the suffering of climate refugees, particularly women.
“Climate Change has fueled conflicts in ASAL counties in Kenya, creating a crisis of climate refugees. Women bear the disproportionate burden of the conflicts and they must surely be protected.
“I have many friends from the International Community who are ready to fund our programmes and to support these women, so my sister Charlene and I will be hitting the ground soon,” Brenda said.
The KANU team was welcomed to the UDA fraternity by former Kakamega Senator and the party’s newly appointed Secretary General Cleophas Malala.
