Engineering board takes registration services to 10 Huduma Centres – How to access

Getting registered or renewing an engineering licence in Kenya just got much easier for professionals working outside Nairobi.
In a public statement on X on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, Huduma Kenya announced that “Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB) services are at select Huduma Centres.”
Local workers can now clear their registration and regulatory requirements right within their home counties.
Selected centres
As per the notice, KETRB services are offered at the following Huduma Centres: Bomet, Eldoret, Garissa, Kakamega, Kisumu, Makadara, Makueni, Meru, Mombasa, and Nyeri.
At these dedicated desks, individual practitioners can apply for new registration, apply for practising cards, renew their annual practising licences, and request official qualification verification.
Engineering technology firms can also register their businesses through the same desks. Additionally, officers at the stations will guide applicants on statutory standards and professional codes of conduct.
This decentralisation means field workers, site supervisors, and young graduates no longer need to spend money on long journeys to Nairobi just to turn in hard copies of their certificates.
Step-by-Step guide
One can access KETRB services at any of the ten participating Huduma Centres countrywide.
Applicants need to visit the designated KETRB desk during official government working hours, which run from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
To complete an application, practitioners must present original academic certificates, national identity cards, and official academic transcripts.
The attending officer inspects the credentials, logs the details into the system, and guides the applicant through verification.
All official payments for board registration and licence renewals are completed through the government e-Citizen portal.
Applicants who require online submission support can use the cyber stations inside the centres, where auxiliary service fees are fixed at Sh150.
Once physical verification and online payment are completed, tracking is handled directly through the portal system. For additional guidance before visiting, citizens can contact the Huduma Kenya helpline on 1919 or walk into their nearest centre.
