Cherargei: Bodies of 6 Mosop crash victims taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary
Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei has confirmed that the bodies of the six victims who perished in the Mosop helicopter crash have been taken to the mortuary at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
In a statement issued from the crash scene at Chepkiep in Nandi North Forest, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, the senator said the country had lost six Kenyans in the tragic air accident.

“Currently at the helicopter air crash at Chepkiep, Nandi North Forest, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County, where we have lost six Kenyans. The bodies are currently being ferried to Moi Teaching and Referral Mortuary,” Cherargei said.
He conveyed his deepest condolences to the families and friends of the deceased, as well as to the nation at large, describing the incident as a tragic loss of lives.
“May God Almighty give fortitude to the loved ones of the departed. Mutyo missing! “Aiyo!” he stated.
This comes shortly after the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) announced that it had launched investigations into the Mosop helicopter crash.
In a statement issued on Saturday, February 28, 2026, KCAA confirmed that the accident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., involving an AS350 helicopter, registration SY-DSB.
According to the authority, the aircraft was operating a flight from Endebes to Mosoriot when it crashed at Kabiet sub-location in the Mosop area of Nandi Hills.
“At the time of the accident, there were six persons on board. The accident is reported to have been fatal; however, confirmation of casualties and identities will be communicated by the relevant authorities once the next of kin have been duly informed,” the statement read.
The regulator said it has initiated the necessary procedures to support investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID).
Further, KCAA noted that more details will be provided as more verified information becomes available.
The Authority extended its sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected by the tragedy.
