Boniface Mwangi rallies supporters for 2027 bid after encounter with taxi driver
By Charles Ouma, February 5, 2026Activist Boniface Mwangi has shared his interaction with a supporter who readily recognised him and assured him of support as he takes a stab at the presidency in the 2027 elections.
Mwangi recounted that he took a taxi on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in the morning and was driven by a man named David.
David welcomed the activist with a warm smile and confirmed his interest in running for the presidency.
“I took a taxi this morning, and my driver was Denis. He smiled when he saw me and asked if I was vying for the presidency. I told him yes, I would be running for president, and he promised me his vote,” Mwangi shared on X on February 5, 2026.

The encounter left Mwangi motivated as he urged Kenyans to back his bid, exuding confidence of emerging victorious.
“Each one, tell one and together we shall win the 2027 presidential election!” He added.
Raising funds to support his bid
The activist launched a campaign to raise funds to support his bid on Monday, February 2, 2026, via a statement released on his official social media profiles.
Mwangi noted that after 20 years of fighting in the streets, he is taking the battle to the ballot, hoping to emerge victorious and fix the challenges facing Kenya.
“After 20 years fighting for justice on the streets, I’m taking the fight to the ballot box. Running for president in 2027 to build a Kenya that works for us & our kids. This is a grassroots movement powered by you,” Mwangi said.
According to Mwangi, his bid is a grassroots movement, powered by ordinary Kenyans seeking to transform the country and build a nation that works for the present and future generations.
Quest to make history
He urged his supporters to join him in the quest to make history, presenting options for monthly subscriptions for those able to support.

“Join with a monthly pledge if you can. Let’s make history together,” he added.
A number of aspirants have declared interest in challenging President William Ruto, who has also declared interest in winning a second term.
The United Opposition is yet to agree on a candidate, with Ruto wooing the Orange Democratic Movement party to back his bid.
