Honouring Raila’s legacy

His statement touched on the solid legacy of the fallen leader who left his mark on Kenya’s political landscape, hailing him as a policy-oriented king.

Raila Odinga was not just an ordinary leader; he was a policy-oriented king, and only a few who do not come from Luo land understood him,” Kiengei stated.

He shared photos taken showing him immersed in deep prayers and reflections at Raila’s graveside.

“Everybody can be great because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love and compassion…The King Died, But Long Live the Crown…Jowiiiii,” Kiengei said in yet another statement following the visit.

The philanthropist also visited the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum as well as the Memorial Museum established in honour of the former vice president to appreciate his contribution to Kenya’s progress and history.

Visits to Raila’s grave and politics

The former Prime Minister’s final resting place has been a beehive of activities, with delegations trooping to Kang’o Ka Jaramogi and making consequential statements shaping the 2027 presidential contest.

Initially framed as a cultural affair to mourn the departed leader, especially by those who could not make it on the burial day, the visits took a political angle with politicians courting Raila’s support base.

Weighty political messages have been dominating amid the grief and the glowing tributes in honour of Odinga whenever politicians make the trip to Kang’o ka Jaramogi.

Kalonzo Musyoka, Wavinya Ndeti, Martha Karua, and Charity Ngilu are among the politicians who have been hosted by the Odinga family at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi.
