Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, has reacted to Kimani Ichung’wah’s dress down of the Education Principal Secretary at the Members of Parliament’s retreat in Naivasha.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Jicho Pevu agreed with Ichung’wah’s assertion that the PS is clueless.

He opined that the PS in question should have been assigned as the PS in charge of weddings, linking the PS to challenges facing schools.

Ni bure kabisa. Tumepata shida kwa mashule kwa ajili yake. Angepewa PS wa Maharusi (Very useless. We have encountered many problems in schools because of the PS who should have been appointed PS for weddings),” the MP stated.

What Ichung’wah said

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah, who is also the Majority Leader in the National Assembly, heavily criticised a PS in the Ministry of Education, whom he did not name, dismissing the PS as a clueless fellow who sits in Nairobi with no idea of the challenges on the ground.

While addressing Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba in Naivasha on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Ichung’wah did not have any kind words for the high-ranking government official.

“You have the most clueless PS in the Ministry of Education, most clueless. He only sits in Nairobi and has no idea what happens on the ground. Get out of your office and go to the ground to deal with the problems,” he said.

Ichung’wah alleges corruption in schools

The MP stated that corruption has taken root in learning institutions with parents forced to pay additional money over and above what the government has directed.

He mentioned parents being forced to buy expensive school uniforms at designated outlets, paying for desks and lunch programmes without a proper plan.

The MP highlighted some of the challenges facing the education sector in the country, including the Grade 10 transition, teacher preparedness, infrastructure development and education sector financing.

The lawmakers had a question-and-answer session, raising key issues affecting the education sector in the respective regions that they represent.
