Nairobi County’s Head of Customer Care Department, Geoffrey Mosiria, has urged parents to stay vigilant over their children’s activities, especially during the festive season.

In a statement shared via his X account on Sunday, December 21, 2025, Mosiria warned parents about the risks associated with parties, particularly Airbnb gatherings.

Mosiria stressed that parents should watch over children above 18 who still depend on them, ensuring they make responsible decisions while enjoying their independence.

“To all parents: If your children are going out, especially those above 18 who still depend on you, watch where they spend their time. Airbnb parties may sound fancy, but they often involve drugs, reckless fun, and adult activities that can lead to overdoses, unwanted pregnancies, STDs, and lifelong regrets. Don’t smother them, but guide their freedom. Talk to them, keep them close, and help them make safe choices,” he said.

He also appealed to drivers to stay safe on the roads during the festive season.

“To all drivers: If you plan to enjoy the festive season on the road, here’s a golden rule: DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE. I’ve seen far too many accidents lately, a frightening reminder that the spirit of death is lurking, claiming innocent lives. Driving doesn’t make you see the road better; it just fills you with unnecessary pride… pride that can cost you your life. Keep your hands on the wheel and the alcohol in the glass,” Mosiria stated.

He further called on the police to reintroduce alcohol breath tests, especially for public service vehicles and some private drivers who may risk the lives of passengers and pedestrians.

“Festive season fun should not come at the cost of lives. Let us remember: the festive season is about joy, laughter, and memories, not regrets, hospital visits, or police reports. Stay responsible, stay safe, and remember: fun doesn’t require foolishness,” he added.
