Long-distance bus operator ENA Coach has issued sweeping new directives targeting passenger baggage and seating compliance, introducing strict weight limits that threaten to raise travel costs for thousands of commuters journeying between major urban hubs and rural upcountry destinations.

In a customer notice issued on Thursday, August 6, 2026, the bus company informed travellers that any luggage exceeding the 15 kg limit will attract the applicable excess baggage charges.

“Dear Esteemed Customer, Kindly take note, luggage exceeding 15 kg is subject to the applicable excess baggage charges,” the notice read.

Under the updated guidelines announced on August 6, 2026, the transport firm established a strict 15-kilogram limit for free personal luggage per passenger.

The policy directly targets a long-standing practice among Kenyan travellers who carry heavy supplies, household goods, and agricultural products to and from their ancestral homes.

With ENA Coach’s updated baggage and passenger seating rules now in effect, travellers should take the following steps to avoid delays, extra charges and other inconveniences:

Know the 15kg luggage limit

Passengers are allowed to carry luggage weighing up to 15 kilograms without incurring excess baggage charges.
