Key features that make Bentley’s first fully electric car stand out

The new model marks an important change for Bentley, which has built its reputation around powerful petrol engines and grand touring cars. The Torcal instead focuses on electric performance, advanced technology and a quieter driving experience while maintaining the luxury associated with the British marque.
According to Bentley, the Torcal is designed, developed and crafted at the company’s headquarters in Crewe, England. It is also intended to introduce a new design direction for the brand as it moves towards a more electrified range.
A new approach to Bentley design
One of the most noticeable features of the Torcal is its exterior design. The SUV has a cleaner and more minimalist shape compared with some of Bentley’s previous models. At the front is an illuminated Floating Diamond Grille featuring 76 hand-applied diamonds.
The lighting continues through the welcome sequence, with lamps beneath the doors projecting the Bentley wings emblem onto the ground when the vehicle is unlocked.
The rear design also takes inspiration from Bentley’s history, including a tailgate influenced by the luggage carrier of the famous Blue Train Bentley.
A luxury cabin with modern technology
Inside, Bentley has combined traditional craftsmanship with technology.
The cabin features handcrafted Ombre Walnut veneers, metal trim and a vertically curved 12.25-inch HD touchscreen. The screen is also the first OLED display fitted to a Bentley.
The interior changes depending on the selected driving mode. Bentley’s Curation Engine can adjust elements such as the seats, lighting, sounds and sunroof to create different cabin environments.
The four modes are Comfort, Sport, Bentley and Refresh. The car also offers features aimed at improving the passenger experience. These include optional Wellness Seating with additional massage functions, heated armrests and an electrostatic air filtration system.
According to Bentley, the filtration system can remove up to 15 times more particles than traditional systems, giving the cabin cleaner air.
Electric power without losing performance
The Torcal is not designed simply to offer a quieter alternative to petrol-powered luxury cars. It also delivers strong performance. Two electric motors produce a combined 809 bhp and 1,155 Nm of torque. Bentley says the car can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
The model also comes with all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering, features that are designed to improve stability and handling. Its active suspension system uses electronically controlled hydraulic pumps at each wheel, allowing the suspension to respond to changing road conditions.
Range and fast charging
Battery range is another important part of the Torcal. Bentley says the electric SUV can travel up to 600 kilometres on a full charge, depending on conditions and usage.
At a 350kW charging station, the company says more than 150 miles of range can be added in 10 minutes. This gives the Torcal a role beyond short city journeys, with its combination of long range and rapid charging aimed at drivers who also want to take longer trips.
A new direction for Bentley
The Torcal represents more than the arrival of another electric vehicle. It introduces Bentley’s first fully electric model while showing how the company plans to combine traditional craftsmanship with new technology.
