GTA 6 leaks: Everything to know about the world’s most anticipated game

Grand Theft Auto VI, one of the most anticipated releases in gaming, is facing a new wave of leaks just weeks before Rockstar Games is expected to provide another official look at the title.
The latest material, which began circulating online around August 18, 2026, includes gameplay clips, map images and details about some of the game’s mechanics.
Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have not publicly confirmed every detail, but copyright takedown requests and legal action targeting platforms hosting the material indicate that the companies are treating the leaks seriously.
How the GTA 6 leaks started
A person or group using the name CyberLeek began posting short clips and images that appeared to show GTA 6 gameplay.
Some of the footage features protagonist Jason Duval, leading to reports that the source had access to a playable development build.
The leaked material is believed to come from an older version of the game rather than the final build. This is important because features, graphics, missions and gameplay systems can change significantly during development.
The leaker has also used the attention surrounding the material to promote a cryptocurrency token and has cited opposition to the gaming industry’s move towards digital-only releases.
What the leaked gameplay shows
Among the most discussed details is an apparent six-star wanted system, which would add another level to the police pursuit system seen in previous Grand Theft Auto titles.

The footage also appears to show a stamina system that decreases during prolonged physical activity and combat. Another reported feature is a police identification system that can take into account a character’s clothing, appearance and vehicle.
Jason is also seen participating in activities such as basketball, with footage suggesting that some activities could influence character statistics such as Focus.
New combat and vehicle features
The leaked footage shows several forms of close-quarters combat and different weapons, including a pipe wrench, knife, switchblade and taser.
Vehicles also appear to receive greater attention. Reports from the leaked material point to features including a fuel gauge, new vehicle interaction systems and different methods of stealing cars, including reported key-cloning mechanics.
Some of these systems appear to build on mechanics introduced in Red Dead Redemption 2, suggesting Rockstar could be bringing more detailed character and interaction systems into GTA 6.
The footage also reportedly shows aircraft and high-performance vehicles, reinforcing the game’s emphasis on exploration and transportation.
The GTA 6 map
One of the biggest leaks is a map of Leonida, the Florida-inspired setting of GTA 6.
The map includes Vice City alongside a range of other environments, including the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Ambrosia, Port Gellhorn and Mount Kalaga National Park.

Other locations reportedly visible on the map include Dalton Island and Catalan Key. If the leaked map proves accurate, it suggests GTA 6 could offer a considerably broader world than the previous Vice City setting.
Because the material is unauthorised and may come from an unfinished build, individual map details should still be treated with caution.
The leaks build on information Rockstar has already revealed about the game’s two central characters, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval.
Lucia is particularly significant because she is the first female protagonist in the mainline Grand Theft Auto series to be presented as a playable lead character.
The pair have been portrayed as a criminal couple operating across Leonida, with the story expected to involve robberies, criminal conspiracies and drug-running operations.
Lucia’s release from prison is also an important part of the story setup revealed through Rockstar’s official material.
When will GTA 6 be released?
GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Rockstar is also expected to provide an official Extended Look on August 27, giving fans a chance to see more of the game through authorised footage.
The official presentation will be particularly important because it can help separate confirmed features from details appearing only in leaked or unfinished material.
While the leaked footage has generated enormous interest, an important caveat is that development builds are not necessarily representative of the finished product.
