Owalo’s outfit

Owalo’s attire became a trending topic after he wore a traditional West African smock, popularly known as the Fugu, during a visit to Luo Council of Elders chairman Ker Odungi Randa in Nyando, Kisumu County where Owalo held consultations with cultural and religious leaders.

The outfit’s distinctive design and loose-fitting appearance generated mixed reactions online, with some praising it as a celebration of African culture while others turned it into a source of memes and jokes.

The former ICT CS wore a loose, oversized tunic-style shirt in deep navy blue with fine white linear patterns running vertically and in curved, stitched-like designs across the front.

The shirt had a bold, textured look with wide, flowing sleeves and a relaxed, boxy fit that gave it a kaftan-like appearance. Its draping silhouette and length made it stand out strongly, with some online users saying it resembled a flowing top rather than a conventional shirt, adding to the debate around his fashion choice.

Owalo said the discussions focused on national issues affecting different communities across the country, describing the engagement as constructive and wide-ranging.

“I have this morning visited and held extensive and fruitful consultations with Ker Odungi Randa, the Chairman of the Luo Council of Elders at his Boya rural home, Kisumu County. Our consultations touched on various issues and challenges affecting the country. Also Present was Deputy Ker James Ayaga; the Cardinal Archbishop of Nomiya Church, Most. Rev. Moses Okech, and the Supreme Archbishop of Nomiya Church Eng. Caleb Olali,” he said.
