Egg carton jingle bell ornaments
Add a lot of colour and a little jingle to your tree this year with these ornaments made from leftover egg cartons.
How to make it:
Cut the egg cups and dividers from paper egg and duck egg cartons. Spray paint pink, green, or silver. Top with a corresponding colour glitter or metal leaf. Punch a hole in the top of each ornament.
Tie a jingle bell to a length of silver string. Thread the string through the hole and tie a knot below the hole, making sure the jingle bell hangs below the carton.
Yarn ball ornaments
Gift a few of these simple-to-make yarn ball ornaments to family or friends who love to knit and watch their faces light up!!
How to make:
Wrap yarn around a clear plastic Christmas ornament, holding the beginning of the yarn in place with a dab of hot glue, until the ornament is completely covered. Thread bamboo cocktail picks through the yarn to mimic knitting needles. Hang as desired.
Yarn stars
Make these cute ornaments with whatever yarn you have on hand or colour coordinate with the rest of your holiday decor. Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong, and you’ll have fun DIYing.
How to make it:
Cut a star shape from a piece of cardboard using an X-Acto knife. Wrap the star in yarn, using dabs of hot glue to help hold the yarn in place near the points of the star, until fully covered. Glue the ends of a length of yarn to the back at one point to create a loop for hanging.
Dried orange fox ornaments
Enlist the kids to help paint these cute fox ornaments. They can gift them to their friends or admire their handiwork when they are hung on the tree.
How to make it:
Paint a face on dried orange slices with off-white acrylic paint. Once dry, use black acrylic paint to add eyes and a nose. Attach whiskers, cut from faux pine branches, on either side of the nose with hot glue.
Cut ears from another dried orange slice and glue them to the back of the ornament. Glue a loop of twine between the ears for hanging.
