According to the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, Kenyatta University and the University of Nairobi remain the country’s top institutions, both earning positions in the 501+ band globally, an impressive feat for African universities.
Comparatively, Kenyatta University beat UoN in good health and well-being, quality of learning experience, financial stability and quality of research.

Kenyatta University has established itself as one of the most reputable public universities in Kenya. It is ranked in the 501+ category globally, sharing the same tier with some of Africa’s best universities.
