Gospel singer Betty Bayo, whose career spanned over two decades, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the private wing of Kenyatta National Hospital.

Her death triggered ten days of intense preparations by family, friends, and the gospel fraternity to ensure her burial was carried out with dignity.

Meetings were held at her home in Mugumo Estate and at the Bluesprings hotel to coordinate logistics, seating, security, and ceremonial proceedings.

Her final journey, culminating on Thursday, November 20, 2025, saw thousands of mourners paying their respects at Ndumberi Stadium before she was laid to rest privately at her family home.

In the aftermath, several high-profile Kenyans, gospel artistes, and business leaders have stepped forward, publicly vowing to provide for her children, Sky Victor and Dani, ensuring they are cared for in every aspect of life.

Here is a brief list of some of them.

1: Bishop Ben Kiengei

Jesus Compassion Ministries [JCM] head preacher, Bishop Ben Kiengei, is among the top Kenyans who have vowed to support Betty Bayo’s children, Sky Victor and Dani.

Speaking during the late songstress’s burial on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Kiengei said he would like to step in should the family later face difficulties in providing for the children.

Kiengei added that he would take them under his JCM Church Foundation, which educates needy children, as he prayed to God to ensure they live a good life.

“And I know we are all here, and the legacy of Betty will be seen through her children. I appeal to the whole family to direct their attention towards these children. What Betty could have given them, let it be provided to them. Let the children not become a matter of debate. Let the debate be about their future. And if things worsen, bring them to JCM,” Kiengei said.

2. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta

One of the most significant pledges came from former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who donated Ksh1 million towards funeral arrangements for Betty Bayo.

Beyond contributing to the burial costs, he also promised scholarships for Bayo’s children via the Kenyatta Foundation.

According to his office, Uhuru has already asked for the names of her children so that the foundation can make the necessary arrangements for their education.

In his message, Uhuru described Bayo as an extraordinary minister of the gospel whose music uplifted countless hearts.

“Her music uplifted countless hearts, and her legacy will endure through her children, her music, and the many lives she touched,” Uhuru shared.

3. Shiru Wa GP

Gospel artiste and close friend of Betty Bayo, Shiru Wa GP also committed to personally supporting Betty’s children.

In a heartfelt declaration, during one of Betty’s burial planning meetings, Shiru issued an emotional statement saying that she would not allow in any way whatsoever for Betty’s kids to lack anything in life.

“I will not allow Betty Bayo’s children to have a difficult life or regret that their mother was a celebrity. The kids will be provided with everything, including the best possible education.”

Shiru also recalled how, in their close friendship, Betty had promised to take care of her own daughter, a bond she said she would honour by stepping in for her children.

4. Sarah Mtalii

Sarah Mtalii, CEO of Virtuous Explorers, the company for which Betty Bayo was a brand ambassador, also affirmed that Betty’s ambassadorial contract will continue even after her death.

She met with Shiru Wa GP and Betty’s lawyer, Mwenda Njagi, to formalise this decision.

The plan is for Betty’s widower, Hiram “Tash” Gitau, together with her ex-partner Pastor Victor Kanyari, to negotiate a new contract extension that will create a stream of income for Sky and Danny.

5. Hiram Gitau (Tash)

During the burial and in his eulogy, Hiram Gitau, Betty Bayo’s husband, made a deeply personal pledge to care for their children.

He vowed not to leave the kids at a time when they need a guardian the most and listed ways he would commit to their well-being.

“My greatest commitment now is to their children … The love you poured into them will now flow through me, doubled in its intensity,” Tash said.

He also promised to uphold family traditions that Betty had cherished, and to maintain a strong emotional foundation for Sky and Danny.

6. Pastor Victor Kanyari

Pastor Victor Kanyari, Betty Bayo’s ex-partner and father to her children, also made public promises during the funeral.

He delivered a heartfelt tribute, acknowledging both the pain of loss and his renewed dedication to their shared children.

He publicly apologised for past difficulties and vowed to support Sky and Danny, describing them as a living legacy of their mother and pledging to provide for them emotionally and spiritually.

“Betty, you are a loving mother and a true friend. I promise you before God, I will not fail our lovely children,” Kanyari said.

7. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and President William Ruto

At Betty Bayo’s burial, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki publicly pledged financial support for her children, Sky and Danny.

Kindiki announced that he and his wife would contribute Ksh5 million to a trust to be established for the children’s education.

Kindiki urged creatives and other well-wishers to come together and contribute to the fund, emphasising that such a trust would care for the children of artistes in times of need.
