Woman in Russian video says she knew she was being recorded and was fine with it
Choice, one of the Kenyan women featured in a viral video filmed by a Russian man, has broken her silence, sharing her perspective on the footage and the circumstances surrounding it.
In a YouTube interview with 2mbili on Monday, February 16, Choice revealed that she was aware of being recorded throughout much of her time with the man and was comfortable with it up to a point.
“I knew he was recording, and I accepted it because I understood he was creating content. I’m a content creator myself, so I thought it was normal,” Choice said. “But in bed, I hope not. I really hope he didn’t record me there.”
Daily life on camera
Choice revealed that the filming often extended to everyday activities, like having breakfast, washing dishes, or cooking together. “As we were taking breakfast, if I saw my boyfriend’s record, I wouldn’t mind because I knew he did content creation for a living. Everything we did, washing dishes, cooking, even washing some of his clothes, was captured,” she said.

Despite the constant filming, she insisted she never engaged in unprotected intimate activity. “I’m not a girl who is stupid enough to meet a stranger and go to bed without protection,” she said.
A relationship in context
Choice explained that their relationship began in August 2025, when she met the man at Nairobi Airport while travelling to Mombasa. According to her, the russian guy offered to change her travel plans so they could go together, and they stayed with him and his team for around 60 days, moving between apartments in Nairobi, Mombasa, Diani, and Nyali.
“We were dating for a while until he came to Kenya to meet me. For me, I knew he was just doing content, as I would, so I kind of accepted up to that point,” she said.
She also described feeling uneasy at times, particularly because he constantly filmed their interactions using Ray-Ban metaglasses or his phone. “That was the reason we became uncomfortable with each other. Anything we did, he wanted to record it,” she added.
