Willy Paul hints at returning to gospel industry after years in secular music

Musician Wilson Abubakar Radido, popularly known as Willy Paul, has hinted at a possible return to gospel music after years in the secular scene.

In an Instagram post on Monday, February 23, 2026, Willy Paul opened up about his current state of mind and reflected on his spiritual roots.

“I feel lost, don’t know why, maybe it’s time to go back home, where it all started. I belong to the church, I should be spreading the Word 😔,” he wrote.

The message suggests that the singer is reconsidering the direction of his career and reconnecting with the faith that first inspired his musical journey.

The Instagram post was accompanied by the runaway gospel tune “Sitolia,” featuring Gloria Muliro banging in the background, adding an extra layer of nostalgia and spiritual connection to his message.

Why he left

In a past revelation, Willy Paul explained why he switched from gospel to secular music, pointing to persistent hatred, hypocrisy, and lack of support from fellow artists and DJs.

He described feeling sidelined despite his success, struggling with depression, and at times being unable to pay bills or support his family. These challenges led him to pursue secular music, where he could continue his passion without pretence.

He also reflected on the resilience he gained from these experiences, noting that critics and envy could not hold him back.

“I’ve been betrayed by close friends and even family, but look, I’m still here standing strong,” he said, emphasising that the move to secular music, though painful, allowed him to survive, heal, and stay true to himself.

Willy Paul further noted that despite the difficulties he faced in the gospel industry, his love for music never waned.

He explained that choosing the secular path was not about abandoning his faith but about finding a space where he could grow creatively and emotionally.

The experience, he said, taught him important lessons about perseverance, self-worth, and the importance of staying authentic, regardless of public opinion or industry pressures.
