Vincent Mwasia Mutua popularly known as Chipukeezy has come out to explain why his show, The Chipukeezy Show, stopped airing on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
In a statement published on Facebook and Instagram, undersigned by Ufalme Entertainment director Michael Muthama, Chipukeezy stated that the state corporation had failed to honour payments owed to them for months now.
“Dear valued partners, suppliers, artists and fans. We hope this message finds you well. We at Ufalme Entertainment would like to address a matter that has been of concern to many of you. It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you of the ongoing delay in payments from our media partner, KBC. Since November, we have encountered significant delays in receiving payments from KBC, despite our best efforts to uphold our commitments to all stakeholders involved in the production of The Chipukeezy Show,” the statement read in part.
He says lack of payment has impacted the show’s production, resulting in its hiatus for months now.
“As a production company dedicated to maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity, we understand the impact that these delays can have on our valued partners, suppliers, and artists,” he added.
The comedian says he is engaging the national broadcaster to resolve the issue, with plans for a comeback for the programme.
“We want to assure you that we are actively engaging with KBC to resolve this matter swiftly and fairly.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible fans for your unwavering support! Your favourite program is set to resume soon on KBC, once we resolve the pending issues promising more inspiration and empowerment,” the statement added.
The Chipukeezy Show
The Chipukeezy Show debuted on KBC on September 11, 2023, and ran for a couple of months before disappearing from the screens without a word.
The show, which aired every Monday from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, was aimed at marketing, growing, and monetizing young talents in the country, according to the then KBC acting Managing Director Samuel Maina.
Chipukeezy started the show after stemming out of the Churchill Show but stopped production for three years before announcing a return in August 2023.
“With a heart full of gratitude, I can hardly believe I’m saying this – the Chipukeezy Show is back! After a 3-year break, this journey feels even more meaningful, and I can’t thank God enough for His blessings,” Chipukeezy stated in August 2023.
