‘Wataanza kuenda kwa inbox yake’ — Dem Wa Facebook on why she keeps her boyfriend private
By Valerian Khakayi, May 12, 2026Popular digital content creator and influencer Millicent Ayuwa, alias Dem Wa Facebook, has opened up on why she has chosen to keep her relationship away from social media despite being deeply in love.
Speaking candidly, in an interview, the comedian said she is not hiding her boyfriend but simply protecting her peace, relationship and personal life from the pressure that often comes with online attention.
According to her, social media users rarely support healthy relationships and instead thrive on rumours, criticism and breakups.
The comedian noted that once people online discover someone’s partner, they begin analysing every detail of the relationship, including appearance, compatibility and even posting habits.
“I’m not hiding the man; mimi niliamua tu privacy. Am not hiding him because he is the best man; I love him, and he is very caring,” Dem wa Facebook said.
“Online people do not support relationships; they support break-up, wataamka wakuambie mtu wako si type yako na hiyo kitu ikikuingia unaweza jisahau na useme na niukweli wameona huyu si type yangu.”

Online gossip
She further noted that online gossip can easily create unnecessary stress in relationships, especially when people begin linking partners to other individuals seen at events or public places.
The comedian added that even something as simple as failing to post a partner for a few weeks can trigger breakup rumours online.
“Tena akikaa ka two weeks bila kukupost wataanza rumours, wameachana, siku hizi hawaendi mahali Pamoja, sasa nikaona vitu kama hizo online, for me niliingia kama Dem wa Facebook na ikifika kwa Millicent na familia yangu hiyo ni under water wacha mtu akini attack anipate tuk ama Dem wa Facebook,” she added.
Shift brand direction
Dem Wa Facebook also explained that introducing her boyfriend online would likely shift attention away from her comedy brand and work as a content creator.

The comedian said whenever she posts client content, followers stop focusing on her work and instead flood the comment section with questions about her boyfriend.
According to Dem Wa Facebook, many content creators slowly lose their original identity online after introducing their partners and families to the public, something she is keen to avoid.
