‘Wale ni mafala sana, akili hawana’ – Ruto mocks opposition leaders
President William Ruto has escalated his war of words with Rigathi Gachagua and other opposition leaders, firing several salvos as he toured Western Kenya.
Picking up from where he left off after addressing a series of roadside rallies, Ruto mocked opposition leaders opposed to the government’s housing programme as clueless politicians with no brains as he launched the Boma Yangu Milimani Kakamega Estate – Phase I on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
“Alafu mnasikia wale watu wa akili kidogo wanasema watakuja kisimamisha hii mradi ya manyumba. Wale ni mafala sana, akili hawana wako chini, wako chini sana. Mtu anasema anakuja kusimamisha hii project kama hiyo kichwa yake ni mzuri? Ni fala si fala huyo? Ruto posed.

This loosely translates to: “ Those with no brains want to stop this housing programme. They are very stupid, with no brains. Can anyone keen on stopping this project really have a good head?”
Ruto fires back at Gachagua over weight remarks
Earlier on, Ruto took a dig at Democracy for the Citizens leader, Rigathi Gachagua, with weight becoming a contentious issue.
In an apparent response to the DCP politician who had commented on Ruto’s weight, claiming that his ears are sticking out after losing weight, the Head of State made weight loss the subject of his response.
“The good thing is that even with all that money, he does not sleep. You can even see how much weight he has lost. He has billions but cannot get rest. I can see he has lost weight until his ears are coming out,” Gachagua said.
Speaking in Cheptais, Mt. Elgon, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Ruto urged his former deputy to focus on fitness, quipping that Gachagua’s ‘big belly’ could be behind his struggles to stay awake during official meetings.
This loosely translates to: “I want to ask these people to go to the gym. Stop eating too much, your stomach will burst. You even fall asleep during meetings”.
Confidence of victory in the 2027 election
Ruto further mocked the opposition, depicting them as a group of power-hungry politicians without an agenda.

“Hawa watu wa upinzani hawana mipango. Mmesikia jana wakikubali kuwa hawana ajenda, eti kwamba mpango wao pekee ni William Ruto, Wapinzani if you want us to go there, you will regret it. (These opposition people have no plans. You heard them yesterday admitting that they have no agenda, that their only plan is William Ruto. Opposition, if you want us to go there, you will regret it,” Ruto said.
He exuded confidence of clinching victory at dawn, saying that no politician can beat him in the 2027 presidential election.
