Kenyan singer Kimani Karuga, popularly known as KRG The Don and political commentator Cassypool Capon have sparked mixed reactions online after publicly praising President William Ruto.

In a video shared by Cassypool on his official Instagram account on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, KRG the Don dismissed critics who accuse the president of ignoring young people.

He claimed that some Kenyans are deliberately trying to spoil Ruto’s name despite his goodwill.

“Wale watu wanataka tu kuharibia rais jina lakini hawajui rais anawapenda, alisema atawafanyi kazi siku ya kusahihisha mtihani 2027,” KRG the Don said,

On the other hand, Cassypool also joined the conversation, defending the president and declaring himself as Ruto’s political sycophant.

Adding a regional twist to the discussion, Cassypool went on to send greetings to President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, claiming she also supports President Ruto.

Cassypool on supporting Ruto

The entertainer has been at the forefront of supporting Ruto’s leadership to the extent of beefing with others who share a different ideology.

Speaking to a local YouTuber on Friday, August 1, 2025, Cassypool opened up about the origin of his feud with the artiste Bien-Aimé Baraza, saying that the singer crossed the line when he disrespected Ruto after Bien made politically charged remarks during one of his performances.

“Beef yangu na Bien ilianzia penye alisema ‘Ruto Must Go’ kwa show yake badala ya kuimba mziki yake. Unaenda kutusi president ambaye ni mtu wangu, rais wa nchi,” Cassypool said.

According to Cassypool, Bien crossed a line by chanting “Ruto Must Go” at a show instead of focusing on his music. He felt personally offended, as he considers President Ruto both a national leader and a personal ally.

The entertainer made it clear that Bien’s conduct has left no room for reconciliation, asserting that any apology would be undeserved.

KRG on Ruto’s leadership

Apart from Cassypool, KRG has publicly endorsed Ruto’s re-election and praised his leadership.

Speaking in an interview with YouTuber Trudy Kitui on Monday, April 7, 2025,he shared his thoughts on why, despite having been a staunch supporter of President William Ruto, he still missed out on being awarded a state job following recent appointments made by the Head of State.

The dancehall artiste shared that he could not clearly state why he was overlooked and acknowledged that it was true many of his fans had been pushing on social media for the President to appoint him.

“Yeah, of course, many people expected me to be given some position, but you know the president is the boss—he’s the one who assesses and sees who’s capable. Perhaps my name hasn’t reached the list yet, but in case he gives me the chance to serve the public and I get that capacity, I don’t mind. I know I can do a lot better in such a job.”KRG said.
