Content creator Gadwilliam Kiragu also Known as Mwalimu Kiragu has revealed why he turned down a Ksh 800,000 brand deal for a single video.

Speaking in an Interview Posted on Tuesday, April 14,2026, Kiragu said the offer was a betting-related collaboration, but he chose to decline it because it did not align with his values or long-term brand direction.

He explained that the proposal involved creating one sponsored video, but after careful consideration, he decided not to proceed.

The big offer

Kiragu recalled receiving the message and immediately recognizing the scale of the opportunity.

At first, he considered the financial value of the deal, noting that such an offer would be life-changing for many creators. However, he said he felt the need to step back and evaluate what it meant for his long-term direction.

He shared that he consulted his father after receiving the offer, showing him the email and explaining the proposal.

According to him, his father advised him that accepting such a deal would mean committing to a different direction entirely.

“If you choose that, you will have chosen something different, and you will have to serve it,” he recalled being told.

That statement, he said, made him reflect deeply on the kind of content creator he wanted to be.

Standing by his brand

Kiragu said he ultimately declined the offer because it did not align with the image and message he wants to project to his audience.

He emphasized that his content is focused on connecting with students, teachers, and families, and he is careful about the types of brands he associates with.

“I don’t see it aligning with my brand,” he said, adding that he prefers to turn down opportunities that conflict with his values.

The TikToker noted that he has learned to say no to deals that do not fit his identity, even when the financial offer is attractive.

He added that he communicates directly with his manager and ensures that any brand collaboration reflects his personal and professional standards.

Values over money

Kiragu said his decision was also influenced by his beliefs and long-term vision for his platform.

He stressed that maintaining trust with his audience is more important than short-term financial gain.

According to him, growth in content creation is not only about monetization, but also about consistency, credibility, and purpose-driven work.
