Marvel has released the first trailer for The Punisher: One Last Kill, a 60-minute action thriller that brings Jon Bernthal back as Frank Castle in one of his most intense appearances yet.

The trailer, released on Friday, April 10, 2026, immediately sets a darker, more emotional tone, showing a man who is not just fighting enemies but also battling himself.

The footage opens with Frank Castle in a visibly broken state. He appears exhausted, isolated, and haunted by everything he has done.

Rather than presenting him as a simple action-driven vigilante, the trailer focuses on his emotional weight and psychological struggle.

It suggests that Frank is no longer driven solely by revenge but by confusion about who he has become and whether anything remains of his original self.

As the trailer continues, it becomes clear that Frank is being pulled back into violence once again. Even though he seems to want a different path, something or someone forces him back into conflict.

The tone implies that this mission is not just another fight against criminals but a deeply personal confrontation that may decide his future.

Action scenes are brief but impactful. The trailer shows fast, brutal combat sequences, gunfire, and close-quarters fights that highlight Frank Castle’s efficiency and relentless nature.

However, these moments are balanced with quieter scenes that emphasise emotional tension rather than spectacle.

One of the most striking elements of the trailer is its focus on Frank’s inner world. Flash-like visuals and fragmented imagery suggest hallucinations or memories that continue to haunt him.

Story connections and supporting characters

The story is expected to connect directly to Daredevil: Born Again, continuing Frank Castle’s journey following the events of the series and expanding his role within Marvel’s street-level universe.

The special appears to take place after Frank’s recent Marvels appearances, continuing his darker, grounded storyline in New York.

While the exact timeline has not been officially confirmed, it clearly follows the tone and events of Daredevil: Born Again.

Alongside Jon Bernthal’s return as Frank Castle, the trailer teases the return of and new supporting characters. Curtis Hoyle appears to return, adding emotional continuity to Frank’s story.

New characters, including Chelsea Brea, are also introduced, suggesting a new conflict that pulls Frank back into violence while expanding his world within the MCU.

Visually, the special maintains a grounded tone. The cinematography uses dark, realistic lighting, tight framing, and a raw camera style that keeps the focus on character rather than spectacle.

The special is expected to premiere on May 12, 2026, exclusively on Disney+.
