Tanzanian music analyst Dr Upupu appeals to Zuchu to unblock him on Instagram

Tanzanian music analyst Dr Upupu has publicly appealed to Bongo Flava star Zuchu, asking her to unblock him on Instagram and describing their fallout as unnecessary, saying there is no personal conflict between them.

Speaking during an interview at a local Bongo radio station on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Upupu said he holds no grudge against the ‘Sukari’ hitmaker and believes the block may have resulted from a difference of opinion over an issue he had previously commented on.

“Zuchu, please unblock me. I have no beef with you now. I think you blocked me just because of a differing view on an issue. I am sorry if I ever wronged you in any way,” he said.

He further stated that if any of his past remarks were interpreted as an attack, he was willing to apologise, although he maintained that his commentary is often meant as constructive criticism rather than personal dispute.

Dr Upupu added that offering a public apology was not an easy decision, especially in situations where he feels he may not have done wrong, but insisted that his intention has always been rooted in goodwill towards artists in the industry.

“But again, making a very bold public apology when I know I never wronged you is not very easy,” he said.

He also suggested that misunderstandings sometimes arise when his commentary is taken out of context, saying that truth should not be distorted and that such situations can lead to unnecessary tension.

“The truth cannot be distorted, and that is why sometimes people feel agitated. If you have taken my comments differently, I do not know, but I am asking that we mend ties,” he added.

The analyst went on to express a desire to mend ties with the singer, reiterating that he harbours no ill will and wishes her well in her musical career.

He also described himself as someone who often offers criticism to artistes in an effort to guide and correct them when necessary, rather than to create conflict or hostility.

“I am sorry, Zuchu, if there is any way you felt I attacked you. I am also a very good person; maybe you have not had a chance to interact with me directly. I also wish you well. Sometimes when I comment about an artist, it is out of goodwill, not to seek vendettas. Sometimes that is my work, to correct artistes when they go astray,” Upupu said.
