Stevo Simple Boy explains why he’s not in a rush to meet IShowSpeed

Renowned rapper Stephen Adera, widely known as Stevo Simple Boy, has explained why he has not yet met with the American YouTube star Darren Jason Watkins Jr, widely known as IShowSpeed, who is currently in the country.

In a video shared on his Instagram account on Sunday, January 11, 2026. Stevo emphasised the importance of supporting local talent first.

He also encouraged Kenyan content creators to focus on their craft and put in the work, assuring them that success and recognition would come with dedication.

Unajua kitu moja wakenya wanafakujua ni let us support our own, sahi IShowSpeed amekuja Kenya atawapatia nini? mimi ningependa kupatia content creators, fanyeni kazi yenu alafu mazuri itakuja baadaye msiharakishe,” Stevo said.

Stevo’s comments come as IShowSpeed’s visit has generated buzz among Kenyan content creators, many of whom are eager to interact with the global star.

IShowSpeed and Kenyan creators

Apart from Stevo, digital content creator and comedian Andrew Duncan Oduor, widely known as 2mbili, also encouraged Kenyan content creators to build their own brands rather than riding on IShowSpeed’s during his visit.

Replying to fellow comedian Lawrence Mwangi Macharia, alias Terence Creative’s advice issued on Sunday, January 4, 2026, via his official Instagram account, urging Kenyan creators to prepare and align their content ahead of iShowSpeed’s anticipated visit to Kenya, 2mbili made it clear that chasing international creators should not be the focus.

He further argued that Kenya already has enough talent to build its own global stars.

According to 2mbili, instead of scrambling to impress the global YouTuber, Kenyan creators should focus on building original, high-energy, authentic personalities that reflect local culture.

2mbili also pointed out that iShowSpeed’s visits are often highly controlled, with limited time for organic collaborations.

“Leta Create our own Ishowspeed; huyu jamaa hana time; kila kitu ilishapangwa mtashangaa kumuona Turkana ama Busia,” 2mbili said.

IShowSpeed touring Kenya

The American streamer officially kicked off his much-anticipated visit in Kenya by starting his first live stream in Nairobi on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Upper Hill High School, where he was met with excitement from students and teachers.
