Size 8 declines calls to intervene in Njugush’s marriage, opts for private prayer
By Ascah Mwango, April 23, 2026Gospel singer and minister Size 8 has firmly declined public pressure to act as a mediator in the shock separation of Timothy Kimani, alias Njugush, and his wife Celestine Ndinda.
The ‘Mateke’ singer’s response follows a public appeal by comedian Oga Obinna, who urged Size 8 and her husband, DJ Mo, to intervene and save the marriage that had long been considered a ‘blueprint’ for Kenyan couples.
Speaking during a phone interview with radio host Ankali Ray on Thursday, April 23, 2026, the preacher made it clear that while she supports the couple, she will not be conducting any reconciliation efforts in the public eye.
When pressed on whether she would take up the mantle of mediator, Size 8 was quick to set boundaries, insisting that some matters are best handled through faith rather than media headlines.
“Wacha tutaomba. Mambo ya ndoa sipendi kuongea sana, sipendi. Wacha tutaomba (Let us pray. I don’t like speaking about marriage matters much, I don’t like it. Let us pray),” Size 8 stated.
The singer remained adamant that she would not be drawn into a public commentary on the state of her friends’ union, despite the intense interest from the Kenyan online community.
‘The devil hates marriage’
Size 8, who has been vocal about the challenges she has faced in her own high-profile marriage, noted that the institution is under constant spiritual attack.
She emphasized that no amount of human intervention can substitute for divine help.
“Unajua staki kuongea kuhusu Njugush na Celestine ni marafiki zangu hewani. Si vizuri kuongea kuhusu hawa watu hewani ama kuongea kuhusu ndoa ya watu hewani (You know I don’t want to talk about Njugush and Celestine on air, they are my friends. It is not good to talk about these people on air or talk about people’s marriages on air),” she explained.
She continued: “Lakini kwa ujumla ntasema shetani hapendi ndoa. Shetani hapendi ndoa hata kidogo aki tu tujaribu tuombe Mungu atusaidie coz ndoa si rahisi. Neema ya Mungu ndo inafanya ndoa inasimama (But in general, I will say the devil hates marriage. The devil does not like marriage even a little bit, let’s just try to pray to God to help us because marriage is not easy. It is the grace of God that makes marriage stand).”
The separation of Njugush and Celestine, which was officially confirmed by the comedian on Tuesday night after months of speculation, has left the entertainment industry in mourning.
While fellow celebrities like Obinna have called for urgent intervention, Size 8’s stance reflects a more private approach.
By opting for prayer over public mediation, she joins a growing number of public figures calling for the couple to be given the space they requested to navigate their new chapter of co-parenting.
As it stands, the ‘Power Couple’ of comedy remains apart, and for Size 8, the solution lies not in a studio interview, but in neema ya Mungu (the grace of God).
