Sifuna says goons struck his Linda Mwananchi rally procession in Kisumu

Orange Democratic Movement Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has said that his convoy for tomorrow’s Linda Mwananchi rally in Kakamega has been attacked by goons.

Sifuna said that the goons descended on the procession after Riat in Kisumu as it was making its way to Kakamega ahead of tomorrow’s Linda Mwananchi rally.

Goons struck just after Riat in Kisumu…lakini safari itaendelea,” Sifuna wrote on X on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Despite the setback, Sifuna exuded confidence that the rally would be a success.

He downplayed the attack in yet another statement on Facebook, saying that the vehicle had officially been baptised and is now ready for the task ahead.

Trail of destruction

The attack left a trail of destruction, as shown in a video shared by the Nairobi Senator.

A truck that was unveiled just hours before the incident can be seen with the windscreen broken, possibly from the impact of an object hurled at the vehicle.

The truck was unveiled by the Linda Mwananchi brigade to address some of the challenges noted during its previous rally in Kitengela.

Goons descended on a platform that had been mounted on the venue and destroyed sound equipment in a bid to scuttle the event that was attended by thousands.

Sifuna had earlier shared a photo of the truck, noting that sound challenges witnessed during the Kitengela rally would be a thing of the past.

“We saw you struggling with sound. Bwana, kumbe, you guys are serious! They will not believe!” Sifuna wrote.

Focus shifts to Kakamega rally

Kakamega will be the centre of action as the Linda Mwananchi brigade led by Orange Democratic Movement Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino and James Orengo camp in the county.

The rally, which is the third one organised by the firebrand politicians, marks yet another development in the political scene with politicians warming up to the political outfit in their tens.

It also signals growing opposition to President William Ruto’s quest for a second term in office, with the ODM party deeply divided.

One faction of the party, led by Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga, is backing Ruto, while the rival faction has made it known that they are opposed to the direction taken by the party leader and his allies.
