Social media influencer and personality Diana Kemunto has opened up about her experience in a come-we-stay marriage at a tender age.

Speaking during a candid conversation at a local podcast, Kemunto revealed that she entered the relationship at just 18, without a clear picture of marriage.

In an emotional account, she recalled how the arrangement began shortly after finishing high school in 2016.

“I was in a come-we-stay marriage from 2016, and it ended in 2020. I was 18 years old, just after high school,” Kemunto revealed.

Life in marriage

Additionally, she said that at the time, she believed she was stepping into a marriage, though she had no formal ceremony or documentation. Instead, her life became centred on running the household, raising her son, cooking, and fulfilling what she describes as her wifey duties.

Looking back, she admits that she had no job or independence, fully dedicating herself to her partner.

“I stayed with him; I always thought it was marriage because I did not have a picture of marriage back then. I was just a housewife, sikuwa na kazi sikuwa na anything, just raising my son and cooking for my man, I was very wifey,” she added.

Why she left

In addition, the social media influencer further narrated that what ultimately pushed her to leave was the toxic nature of the relationship.

She revealed that it was not only affecting her but also her son and her parents. The abuse escalated to physical violence, leaving her with no choice but to take a stand

“It was a very toxic relationship; I could not continue with it because it was affecting my son and my parents,” she revealed.

“In 2020 I was like no Iam tired. nilikuwa naenda na pigwa na rudi na pigwa and then one day I was like no it is enough let me just go, I packed and left.
