Tanzanian rapper Rosa Ree has shared an emotional message mourning her late father, days after he was laid to rest.

In a touching post shared on Instagram on Saturday, April 4, 2026, the rapper reflected on the difficult journey of grief, admitting that losing her father has introduced her to a kind of goodbye she is still struggling to understand.

“You have taught me a different kind of goodbye, one I do not know how to say,” she wrote.

She expressed belief that although he is no longer physically present, his spirit remains, and she found comfort in trusting that his soul is at peace.

She went on to wish him a safe journey in the afterlife.

“You may not be here, but I know you’re not gone. It is well with your soul; travel safe, Baba. ❤️🕊️”, she added.

Painful loss

The emotional tribute comes just days after Rosa Ree laid her father, Robert Ephata Meshiko, to rest.

In an earlier update shared on Sunday, March 22, 2026, the rapper revealed that her father had been buried a day earlier, on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

She expressed gratitude that the burial ceremony had gone as planned, noting that the family had managed to give him a dignified and respectful send-off.

“Hatimaye tumefanikiwa kumpa baba yetu heshima ya mwisho,” she wrote.

At the time, she also paid tribute to him by celebrating his life and legacy, stating that although he was gone, he would never be forgotten.

She emphasised that his memory would continue to live on in their hearts and offered prayers for his eternal rest.

A video shared from the burial captured the emotional scenes of the day, showing a long convoy of vehicles escorting the hearse carrying her father’s casket along a highway in Tanzania. Members of the public were seen standing by the roadside, waving in respect as the procession passed.

Upon arrival at the family home, the casket was placed in a designated area where prayers and sermons were conducted before the final journey to the burial site. There, in line with Christian traditions, the body was gently lowered into the grave as family members took turns covering it with soil in a deeply emotional farewell.

Untimely passing

The loss of her father was first announced on March 13, 2026, when Rosa Ree revealed that he had passed away after a short illness during the night.

In her announcement, she shared funeral arrangements for family and friends, indicating that initial services would be held in Dar es Salaam before a final service in Moshi. She also opened up about her grief, expressing regret over not having more time with him and wishing she had known their last moments together would be their final goodbye.

“We announce with deep sorrow the passing of our father, Mr Robert Iwole Mongi. He had been ill for a short time before passing away in the early hours of today. For those in Dar Es Salaam, the funeral will take place tomorrow, March 14, at 10 p.m. at Mapinga School, at the home of Regina Robert Iwole, and thereafter the service in Moshi, Marangu Mtoni will be announced,” she wrote.

She spoke emotionally about longing for one more conversation and one last embrace, highlighting the deep bond they shared. Despite the pain, she expressed gratitude to God for the time they had together and prayed for her father’s peaceful rest.

“Father, if I had known I would speak with you for the last time, I would have cherished our conversations and spoken with you more. If I had known I would not see you again, I would have come to sit with you and embrace you one final time. Father, you are gone. We still had so much to talk about. Father, you have departed. Go in peace, my father. Thank you, God,” she added.
