Media personality Steve Maghana, alias Oga Obinna, has recalled one of the most talked-about moments from his past relationships, revealing that he once gave an ex-lover Ksh1.8 million in cash and also bought several cars for a woman he was involved with.

Speaking to Flossy Trukid on Friday, December 19, 2025, during a discussion prompted by a question on the largest amount of money one has ever given to a lady, Obinna said the Ksh1.8 million gift remains the biggest single cash amount he has ever given at once.

He explained that the incident became widely known at the time and later turned into a public scandal.

“For my ex-lover, the biggest amount was Ksh1.8 million. The story was already in the public domain, and it became a huge scandal. She had a car loan that she had not told me about, and when I found out, I realised how stressed she was,” he said.

Obinna said the money was given after he discovered that his then partner was under immense stress due to a car loan she had not disclosed to him earlier.

He stated that although he was not in love with her at the time, he respected her and believed they were building something together, which motivated him to step in and help resolve the problem.

“I went to the bank and withdrew Ksh2 million. I gave her Ksh1.8 million, then we went to another bank where I deposited the money to clear the loan. At the time, I did not love her, but I respected her, and we were building something together, so I felt that if there was a problem, we should solve it,” Obinna said.

He recounted going to the bank, withdrawing close to Ksh2 million and handing her Ksh1.8 million, after which they proceeded to another bank where the money was deposited to clear the loan.

According to Obinna, he later shared bank receipts online to confirm the transaction when questions and allegations arose about whether the payment had actually been made.

He said the situation escalated after the woman later made claims that prompted him to publicly produce proof of withdrawal, including receipts bearing his signature, timestamps and transaction details, to show that the loan had indeed been settled using the money he provided.

“Later, it turned into a big online scandal because she said many things about the situation. I had to share the receipts to show my signature, the date and time I withdrew the money, and proof that the Ksh1.8 million was used to clear the loan,” he added.

Car gifts

Beyond cash gifts, Obinna said he has also bought cars for women he has been involved with. He disclosed that he has purchased at least three cars in total, including two for one of his baby mamas.

He described himself as someone who goes the extra mile in relationships, stating that when he loves, he does so fully.

“That is the largest amount of cash I have ever given at once. Apart from cash, I have also bought cars. I have bought about three cars in total, and I bought two of them for one of my baby mamas,” he shared.

During the same conversation, Obinna also spoke about his views on attraction and relationships, noting that he does not prioritise skin colour when choosing a partner.

He said physical appearance matters to him, particularly body shape, adding that attraction plays a significant role in how he connects with someone.

“I am a lover, and when I love, I go the extra mile. As for women, do what you can, stay in your lane, and find someone you truly connect with. I do not have a preference for skin colour; it depends on the person. Colour does not matter much to me, but physical attraction, especially body shape, does play a big role,” he added.
