‘Niko place poa’ – Timmy T Dat shuts down claims of being broke
By William Muthama, March 22, 2026Musician Timmy T Dat has addressed ongoing rumours about his financial status, dismissing claims that he is struggling.
In an interview on Sunday, March 22, 2026, the rapper made it clear that while he may not be at his ultimate destination yet, he is far from where he once was, and that, to him, is real progress.
“Kenye naeza sema na ninataka wapate hii sense siko mahali nataka kukua lakini siko mahali nilikua so niko place poa,” he explained, adding that he still has dreams and vision and is actively working towards them.
Viral images spark narratives
Part of the speculation stemmed from viral images circulating online showing the artist shirtless in a rural setting. The photos quickly fueled narratives that he had fallen off financially, with many social media users assuming he was broke.
However, Timmy clarified the situation, explaining that he had simply travelled to the rural area to visit his mother. He stressed that the background seen in the images was misinterpreted, turning a normal personal moment into a misleading story.

“I posted a screenshot of myself on TikTok. I was with my mother. I posted it. You will take a picture, and you will say you have spotted me?” he noted
Importantly, he debunked claims that he had been “spotted” in that situation. According to Timmy, he was actually the one who posted the original video himself on his TikTok page. The viral images were just screenshots taken from that video, later circulated online without context.
Growth, business and new music
Timmy described his time away from the limelight as a period of self-development. Rather than viewing it as a setback, he framed it as necessary growth, both personally and professionally.
He highlighted how the music industry demands full commitment, noting that success requires more than just talent; it needs consistency, structure, and long-term vision.
During this period, he has also taken on a mentoring role, helping nurture emerging artists and build a stronger creative foundation beyond his own career. For him, this shift reflects maturity and a deeper understanding of his purpose in the industry.
Beyond shutting down rumours, Timmy also highlighted what he has been working on behind the scenes. He revealed that he owns a studio, is running personal initiatives, and is currently preparing to release a new album.
