Senior Counsel Nelson Havi has offered advice to anyone preparing to be interviewed by renowned journalist Yvonne Okwara.

In a statement on his social media accounts on Wednesday, February 2026, Havi cautioned that the brilliant journalist is “a weapon of mass media destruction” for anyone uninformed or stupid, indicating that the journalist is well-informed and tactful in how she handles her interviews.

“Yvonne Okwara is a weapon of mass media destruction,” he said before unpacking who anyone who is not prepared should avoid the journalist.

Havi cautions people

He cautioned anyone who falls in this category to think through before showing up for her interviews, adding that he will not charge any legal fees for the advice.

“Avoid her camera and microphone if you are stupid and uninformed. I will not charge any legal fees for this advice,” Havi said, hinting at her approach of asking questions that leave anyone not adequately prepared or uninformed exposed for all to see.

Alluding to the journalist’s reputation as a firm and professional journalist who presses for answers and asks the difficult questions, Havi urged anyone stupid and uninformed to reconsider being interviewed by the journalist, noting that she is good at what she does.

Yvonne Okwara’s reputation

She has worked with leading media houses in the country and has, over the years, built a solid reputation while working her way to the top.

The journalist is widely respected in Kenyan media for her calm authority, analytical depth, and professional interview delivery.

She blends professionalism with firm accountability, especially when handling political and governance matters.

The journalist is also well-informed with a great understanding of the political landscape and issues of concern to Kenyans, an attribute that comes out every time she interviews politicians, presenting facts backed by data and sifting through empty rhetoric in a way that few journalists can.

As the political season gathers pace, aspirants and incumbents have been lining up on radio and television stations across the country.

Winnie Odinga, Jalang’o, Babu Owino, Edwin Sifuna and Esther Passaris are among those who have been interviewed by various media houses in the recent past.
