7 Kenyan artistes with more than 1 million YouTube subscribers

YouTube has become an important platform for Kenyan musicians to distribute their music, connect with fans and build audiences beyond the country.

Several Kenyan artistes have crossed the one-million subscriber mark, earning the platform’s Gold Creator Award and joining an increasingly competitive digital music space.

As of September 2026, seven notable Kenyan music acts with at least one million subscribers include Otile Brown, Bahati, Willy Paul, Sauti Sol, Diana B, Msanii Music Group and Guardian Angel.

Current channel data places Bahati at about 1.72 million subscribers, Otile Brown at 1.71 million, Willy Paul at 1.57 million, Diana B at 1.41 million, Sauti Sol at 1.26 million, and Msanii Music Group at 1.03 million.

Otile Brown

R&B and Afropop singer Otile Brown was the first Kenyan artiste to surpass one million YouTube subscribers, reaching the milestone in January 2022.

Known for his romantic songs and a sound that blends contemporary R&B, Afropop and Bongo influences, Otile has built a catalogue around love, relationships and heartbreak.

Some of his popular songs include Chaguo la Moyo, Woman featuring Harmonize, Jeraha with Jovial, One Call with Ruby and Umenipendea Nini with Barakah The Prince.

His YouTube channel has continued to grow and had about 1.71 million subscribers and more than 556 million views by September 2026.

Bahati

Bahati became the second Kenyan artiste to cross one million YouTube subscribers, reaching the milestone in May 2022.

The singer began his career in gospel music before transitioning into secular music, where he has continued releasing songs and building his audience.

Among his notable songs are Mama, Lover, Fikra za Bahati, Nikumbushe, Sweet Love with Diana B and Adhiambo.

Beyond music videos, Bahati has also used YouTube for personal and behind-the-scenes content, helping turn his channel into a broader entertainment platform. His channel had about 1.72 million subscribers in September 2026.

Willy Paul

Willy Paul became the third Kenyan artiste to hit one million YouTube subscribers, reaching the milestone in October 2022.

The singer and songwriter has moved between gospel and secular music during his career, developing a style that includes Afropop, R&B and contemporary Kenyan pop.

His catalogue includes hits such as Jigi Jigi, I Do featuring Jamaican singer Alaine, Hallelujah featuring Nandy, Liar featuring Miss P and Kuu Kuu with Rwandan artiste Jzyno.

His YouTube channel has since grown beyond the one-million mark, reaching about 1.57 million subscribers and more than 412 million views by September 2026.

Sauti Sol

Afropop band Sauti Sol joined Kenya’s million-subscriber club in March 2023.

The group, made up of Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano, Savara Mudigi and Polycarp Otieno, became known for its rich vocal harmonies and fusion of Afropop, R&B and other African sounds.

Some of Sauti Sol’s best-known songs include Suzanna, Kuliko Jana, Melanin featuring Patoranking, Short N Sweet, Unconditionally and Nishike.

The band’s YouTube channel had about 1.26 million subscribers and more than 460 million views by late September 2026.

Diana B

Diana Marua, popularly known as Diana B, became the first Kenyan female artiste to cross one million YouTube subscribers in January 2024.

Diana is known for a combination of content creation and music, later developing her musical identity as Diana B. Her music leans towards hip-hop and contemporary African pop.

She released her debut song Hatutaachana in 2021, followed by songs including Bado, One and Only, Mubaba and other collaborations.

Her YouTube platform has also featured family and lifestyle content, contributing to her large digital audience. Diana B had about 1.41 million subscribers and more than 359 million views by September 2026.

Msanii Music Group

Msanii Music Group represents the gospel side of Kenya’s million-subscriber YouTube club.

The gospel music group was formed under Msanii Records in 2020 and became known for gospel covers, throwback songs and original productions.

The group released music and video content regularly during the COVID-19 period, helping it build a large online following.

Its biggest songs include Mtuliza Bahari, Neno Litasimama, Shusha Nyavu and Malaika. Mtuliza Bahari is among the group’s most successful videos, with more than 40 million YouTube views.

By September 2026, Msanii Music Group had crossed one million subscribers, with channel trackers recording about 1.03 million subscribers and more than 394 million total views.

Guardian Angel

Gospel musician Guardian Angel became the latest name on the list after his YouTube channel reached one million subscribers on September 27, 2026.

The singer, whose real name is Peter Omwaka, has built his career around gospel music and faith-based songs.

His popular releases include Nimependa, Kuongozwa, Yesu Sio Mwizi, Rada and Nadeka. His music has also given him a significant audience beyond Kenya, with previous YouTube rankings placing him among the country’s most-viewed artistes.

Guardian Angel’s milestone also marked a long period of growth. His wife, Esther Musila, recalled that the couple celebrated his 100,000-subscriber milestone in September 2020, six years before he reached the one-million mark.
