Mtatuua nyinyi!: Nasra Yusuff’s message to those wearing strong perfumes

Media personality Nasra Yusuff has sparked conversation after joking that some perfumes are so strong they feel dangerous.

In a recent post on Instagram on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, she humorously warned that certain scents can feel overwhelming, using dramatic language to describe the effect they can have.

“Mtatuua nyinyi!” she jokes, suggesting that some perfumes are so powerful they could almost “kill brain cells.”

Nasra shared the comment while reflecting on how she has started to understand certain rules she grew up hearing about.

“Na nimeanza kuelewa kwanini tulikatazwa kupaka perfume tukitoka nje,” she says.

She adds that beyond the main reason often given for the rule, there may have been another explanation. According to her, the strength of some perfumes might also be part of the issue.

“Apart from the main wisdom behind it, Allah also knew watatengeneza zao cone that can kill brain cells. Mtatuua nyinyiiiiiiii,” she says.

Her remarks come shortly after she opened up about a different personal challenge involving her health and diet. Nasra recently spoke about the dangers she faced while attempting an extreme diet that drastically limited the foods she ate.

She opens up about extreme diet struggles

The perfume story comes days after she opened up on extreme diet struggles. Nasra revealed that she had cut out many common foods from her daily meals. The changes included removing rice, chapati, mandazi, sugar, pasta, and bread from her diet.

“I stopped eating so many things like rice, chapo, mandazi, sugar, pasta, bread, etc, and hata before I never had many food options, so nikitoa hizo, sina food hata,” she explains.

She says eliminating those foods left her with very few options for daily meals. According to Nasra, most of what she consumed during that period was limited to simple items.

“Nikakuwa tu nakula eggs na nyama na maji. Jana nikakula sweet potato na no sugar tea,” she says.

The strict diet soon began affecting her body and overall health. Nasra explains that the experience helped her realise how risky extreme dieting can be, especially when it removes many basic food groups at once.

She says the situation made her reflect on how important it is to maintain balance when making changes to eating habits. The drastic adjustments, she notes, placed strain on her body and made daily routines more difficult.
