The Mongoose review: A wrongly accused soldier takes the law on a dangerous road chase

According to the film’s official synopsis, the chase starts after Fang is linked to a murder. He drives away from the crime scene at high speed, turning what could have been a straightforward arrest into a much bigger pursuit.
Fang’s fight is bigger than escaping police
The main character is not presented as an ordinary criminal. Ryan “Fang” Flanagan is a decorated combat veteran, which gives his situation more weight.
He knows that the police are coming after him, but he also believes that surrendering could mean losing his chance to prove his innocence. That puts him in a difficult position because every mile he drives makes him look more like a fugitive.

Tara brings an emotional side to the story
Another important character is Tara, Fang’s former wife. Her role adds a more personal side to the otherwise action-filled story.

On the other side is Major Walter Pope, the officer tasked with bringing Fang in. His pursuit creates the main conflict between the fugitive and law enforcement.

What makes The Mongoose stand out is the way the chase becomes the centre of the story. The public follows the pursuit through television coverage, with many people beginning to support Fang as they learn more about his situation.
This changes the chase from a private battle between one man and the police into something the whole country is watching.
