Shawn Dalmas reveals the sacrifices behind his new home at 21

Media entrepreneur Shawn Dalmas has opened up about the work and sacrifices behind acquiring his own home at the age of 21.

In a post shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Dalmas reflected on the journey that led to the milestone, saying the home represents more than having his own space.

Dalmas is the founder and CEO of a media and communications company involved in content creation, marketing and storytelling. He also hosts a podcast focused on conversations with entrepreneurs, creatives and other influential voices.

A milestone at 21

Dalmas said he received the keys to his new home exactly one month before sharing the message, describing the moment as an answer to his prayers.

He recalled how a saying he often heard from teachers while growing up had taken on a different meaning as an adult. “Exactly one month ago today, I received the keys to my new home. Even now, I still find myself looking around and quietly whispering, ‘Thank You, God,’” he wrote.

For the young entrepreneur, the apartment represents a year marked by hard work, uncertainty, difficult choices and moments when the future was not always clear.

Building two businesses

Dalmas said much of the pressure came from trying to build two ventures while still in his early twenties.

Between the ages of 20 and 21, he took on the responsibility of developing Dalmas Creations and Inspire, two projects that he described as major dreams requiring a great deal of commitment.

He said some people questioned his decision to take on such responsibilities at a young age, but he continued working and learning. “Many people thought I was mad for believing so boldly at such a young age. Perhaps I was. But I kept going,” Dalmas said.

His career has continued to grow alongside his personal milestones. In 2025, he was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the NaBLA Awards, an achievement he linked to his work through Dalmas Creations.

‘Behind these keys’

While the new home may appear to be a simple achievement, Dalmas said there was a less visible side to reaching the milestone. He pointed to financial pressure, sleepless nights, closed doors and private moments that came with building his businesses.

“There were moments when everything felt overwhelming, but God continued to give me the strength to keep moving forward,” he wrote. Dalmas said the experience has reinforced his belief in combining faith with discipline and hard work.

He described the home as a reminder that difficult seasons can eventually produce results when a person remains committed to their goals. “The seeds we plant in faith, water through hard work and protect through difficult seasons will eventually bear fruit,” he said.

For Dalmas, receiving the keys at 21 is therefore not only about owning a home. It is also a reflection of the years of effort that went into building his career and businesses at a young age.
