Mosiria to youth: No shortcut to wealth
Nairobi County’s Customer Care Department head, Geoffrey Mosiria, has a message to everyone who desires to be a billionaire overnight.
In a post on Facebook on Sunday, March 8, 2026, Mosiria regretted that online wealth scams have become rampant, warning young people to be cautious about individuals promising quick riches.
According to Mosiria, many young people are falling into traps set by scammers who claim they can make them wealthy instantly through secret groups and mysterious networks.

“I know many people hate being told the truth, and that is why many have been misled and brainwashed by fake prophets and pastors in the past. Now the same pattern is appearing online through scammers,” Mosiria said.
Mosiria warned that some online fraudsters are now recruiting young people into fake groups while promising them a luxurious life without effort.
He cited fake “Freemason” networks and similar secret organisations that claim to offer wealth in exchange for joining fees.
“I find it ironic that some claim Satan can make someone rich overnight, yet the same people asking you to join these so-called secret organisations are demanding money from you,” he said.

Mosiria questioned why someone who claims to have the power to create wealth would first ask for money from those seeking help.
“If someone truly had the power to make you wealthy instantly, why would they first ask for your money? It simply does not add up,” he added.
Hard work key to success
Mosiria urged young people to avoid chasing quick money and instead focus on honest work and discipline.
He said lasting success cannot come from shortcuts or deceptive schemes.
“There is no shortcut to genuine prosperity,” Mosiria said.

He advised youth to strengthen their values, stay focused on legitimate opportunities, and avoid being influenced by people promising overnight success.
“Instead of chasing empty promises, focus on honest work, discipline and faith. Go to church, strengthen your values and build your life through legitimate means,” he said.
Mosiria also referenced the Bible to emphasise the importance of work and responsibility.
“The Bible reminds us clearly in 2 Thessalonians 3:10: ‘The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat,’” he said.
According to the county official, true success comes through patience, integrity, and consistent effort, not scams or promises of instant wealth.
