Mosiria calls out drivers urinating in bottles and recklessly dumping them across CBD
By Valerian Khakayi, March 19, 2026Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has called out a section of matatu drivers operating within the Central Business District (CBD) who have taken to urinating in bottles and dumping them indiscriminately across the city.
Mosiria, in a statement issued on Thursday, March 19, 2026, described the behaviour as disgraceful and unhygienic, noting that it has made the work of city cleaning staff significantly more challenging.
“It is unfortunate that some drivers operating within the CBD have resorted to urinating in bottles and indiscriminately dumping them across the city,” Mosiria called out.
“This disgraceful and unhygienic behaviour is unacceptable and has made the work of our cleaning staff extremely difficult.”
He stressed that the government cannot sit back and allow such actions to continue unchecked, emphasising that immediate corrective measures are necessary.
“We cannot sit back as a government and watch grown men, out of sheer negligence and irresponsibility, turn our city into a slum. This must come to an end immediately,” he added.
In addition, the head of Customer Service in Nairobi County announced that authorities will take firm and uncompromising action against any matatu SACCOs whose drivers are found engaging in this conduct.

“We will be taking firm and uncompromising action against matatu SACCOs whose drivers are found engaging in this conduct. Any driver caught will face the full force of the law, and the responsible SACCOs will be held accountable without exception,” Mosiria stated.
Mosiria further expressed personal frustration with those involved, addressing the offenders directly.
“Shame on you, wamaume wakubwa, who have suspended the use of brain properly!” he added.

Mosiria on the garbage crisis
This comes weeks after Mosiria caught a man red-handed dumping garbage.
On Monday, January 12, 2026, Mosiria shared a confrontational video on his Facebook account, questioning a man who had been dumping waste in the Githurai area.

“Okota hiyo uchafu ata kama ni Kiambu. We! Unamwaga uchafu hapa? Unafanyia wapi? Sasa unatoa uchafu Nairobi, unakuja kumwaga Kiambu? Hapa ni Kiambu unachafua,” Mosiria said in the video.
“Wewe, huyu jamaa awekwe pingu, nimemwona akimwaga.Chenye tunasema ni, wafanyakazi wa serikali, ukiona mtu ananachafua, mtakaze. Huyu jamaa amemwaga uchafu tukiangalia.”
