Mesh opens up on challenges of 6-week postpartum wait after welcoming firstborn with Ninah
By Steve Ireri, February 2, 2026Gospel musician Mesh, of the popular duo Wapendwa Muziki, has opened up about the difficulties he has faced during the six-week postpartum waiting period following the birth of his first child with fellow singer Ninah.
Speaking in an interview with Shiku Gitau on Monday, February 2, 2026, Mesh admitted that he has been struggling to adjust to the restrictions that come with the postpartum period, describing the experience as unexpectedly harsh.
“So I have been going through very harsh conditions at home because this whole story about the six-week wait feels like a myth,” Mesh shared.
He revealed that he initially believed a C-section delivery might allow them to bypass such a long waiting period, but has since realised that the six-week restriction is necessary and has proven challenging.
“I don’t know, maybe I need to be corrected, but as a person, I am really struggling. I thought that because she gave birth via C-section, it wouldn’t be a problem, but now I am suffering,” he shared.
Mesh said he is grappling with the adjustment, highlighting that the period of abstinence is particularly difficult as it comes after months of limited intimacy, even during the pregnancy.
He acknowledged that discussions about the matter with his wife are delicate and not always easy to have, adding that the experience has required patience, understanding, and compromise.
“Guys, help me, because you know that six weeks is not easy. Even before the birth of the child, I had already suffered, as I couldn’t be intimate with her during her pregnancy,” Mesh said.
Despite the challenges, Mesh emphasised that he views the entire experience as a blessing, expressing gratitude for the safe delivery of their child.
He reflected on the excitement of seeing Ninah’s baby bump during her pregnancy and the joy of welcoming a healthy newborn into their family.
He further noted that their child is thriving and looks exceptionally well, reinforcing the sense of fulfillment that comes with parenthood.
“We are talking about all this with Ninah now, but we can’t really have a proper conversation about it yet. However, on other matters, I would say the whole thing is just a blessing because she carried the baby, and now we have the child. And the baby looks so good,” he shared.
In videos posted shortly after the birth, Ninah was seen cradling their newborn, while Mesh shared intimate footage from the delivery room, documenting the raw and uncut moments of the birth.
In the clip, Mesh comforted Ninah as she anxiously waited for the baby to cry, expressing immense relief and gratitude when the newborn finally did.
The heartwarming announcement came after Mesh previously revealed his family’s history of infertility, which had left him fearing he might be unable to conceive.
He explained that infertility had long been a quiet struggle in his extended family, and the fear of passing it on had weighed heavily on him before marrying Ninah.
He credited prayer and faith for helping him navigate those fears, culminating in the joyful birth of their first child.
“Nina did not even know that infertility existed in my lineage; she only came to learn about it much later. It is not something you can easily talk about or even admit openly. From the first day, I always prayed and told God, ‘Please, not me next in this infertility thing,’” he shared at the time.
