Mbosso officially introduces little-known brother Mohammed after fans’ queries

Tanzanian Bongo Flava icon Mbwana Yusuf Kilungi, popularly known as Mbosso, has officially introduced his younger brother, Mohammed Kilungi, to his fans.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, January 31, 2026, the ‘Pawa’ hitmaker confirmed that the boy who had been the subject of speculation due to his striking resemblance to him was, in fact, his biological sibling.
Mbosso encouraged everyone who had comments or questions about his brother to share them and went ahead to provide Mohammed’s Instagram handle for anyone interested in following him.
“Do you have anything to tell my younger brother, whom I call Little Mbosso? His Instagram account is @mohammedkilungi,” he wrote.
The singer also warned fans against following fake accounts that had surfaced using his brother’s photos, emphasising that the account he had shared is the official one.
“@mohammedkilungi is the real account; all the rest are fake ones,” he clarified.
Speculations
The young teenager, Mohammed, went viral after featuring in the music video for Mbosso’s latest hit song, Darasa la Saba.
In the video, Mohammed played a prominent role as one of the main cast members, and netizens immediately began speculating about how the production team had sourced him, noting his uncanny resemblance to Mbosso.
Following this development, Mbosso released another video in which he introduced his entire family.
He showcased his little-known Muslim mother, expressing how much they love her. At the same time, the ‘Merijah’ hitmaker revealed that he also has a sister named Mwana Idi Kilungi and another brother named Salumu Kilungi.
“I am introducing the Kilungi family: this is our mother, this is my sister named Mwana Idi, this is another brother named Salumu Kilungi, and this last one is Mohammed Kilungi,” he said.
Teacher’s surprise
The teacher had creatively reworked the lyrics of the popular track, tailoring them into a motivational piece for his students.
Instead of the original lines, which go, “Kamusi namaliza kurasa kukusifia, matusi naiona BASATA wakinifungia, theluthi hizi raha ninazopata mia fil mia, ah, mjusi ukuta wa plasta na uparamia, na kama penzi ni chupa la bia, nipe sana niwe mlevi ni yumbe yumbe njia”, the teacher’s version inspired learners to focus on their education, reciting, “Kamusi namaliza kurasa kujisomea, walimu na wazazi naona mnatupambania, siwezi nikaleta uzembe nitafeli pia, na kama elimu ni ufungu wa maisha acha nisome.”
In a video shared on his YouTube page on Monday, August 25, 2025, Mbosso could be seen heaping the gifts in a car and expressing excitement at how the surprise was going to unfold.
He then organised a convoy of high-end cars and made the long journey to the school, where he delivered much-needed educational resources.
Among the items he presented were printers and other essential supplies, which the teacher had long wished for to ease the burden of travelling many kilometres to print school materials.
The unexpected gesture overwhelmed the teacher, who expressed his gratitude with heartfelt words.
He explained that the community, not just the village but the entire division, had been given respect through the artiste’s gesture.
“Truly, you have honoured us greatly. As a community, not just this village but the entire mountain, you have given us respect. We are grateful for your support as well,” he said.
