Mbavu Destroyer speaks on reason he is not interested in dating
By Steve Ireri, May 1, 2026Vurugu boxing fighter Mbavu Destroyer has opened up about his personal life, stating that he is currently single and not interested in dating, even as tension continues to build around his rivalry with reigning Vurugu Boxing champion Majembe.
Speaking during an interview with Tony Mwirigi on Friday, May 1, 2026, Mbavu maintained that he is not involved in any romantic relationship and insisted that he cannot be found with women.
He added that he is fully focused on his career and personal direction.
“By the way, you can never find me with women. I do not have a lady now and I am not dating,” he said.
The boxer also addressed past remarks he made during the heated build-up to his fight with Majembe, where he had jokingly suggested that he would take Majembe’s girlfriend if he emerged victorious. He clarified that the statement was made in jest during the competitive hype surrounding their clash at Kasarani Indoor Arena.
“And I know I had said that I would take Majembe’s girlfriend if I beat him, but that was just talk, I was joking. I could only have given him a child, a Mbavu Junior,” Mbavu added.

Mbavu further hinted at renewed tension between the two fighters, revealing that fans should expect another encounter in the near future. However, he stressed that any rematch would not be formally arranged, but rather an unplanned confrontation should they cross paths.
“And one month from now, you should expect a rematch between Majembe and me. But that rematch is not the pre-arranged one; it will be something that just happens when we collide and we fight there,” the boxer shared.
Message to Majembe
During the live on Saturday, April 25, 2026, Majembe confidently displayed the device to viewers, insisting that it was the latest iPhone 17 model.
He repeatedly held up the phone to the camera and urged viewers to look closely as he boasted about the gadget he was using.
“You are still far from reaching this level, that’s why I’m telling you. You see the phone I am using? iPhone 17,” he said.
Majembe told off Mbavu, saying he is far from reaching such a level and encouraging him to acknowledge the kind of phone he was now using.
He insisted that the device he was live on was an iPhone 17 and asked viewers to confirm that they had seen it clearly.
‘Let me even take a video so you can clearly see the phone I am using, the iPhone 17, my brother.’ Here is the phone. The one I am on live with is the iPhone 17. I hope you have seen it. So settle and rest,” Majembe added.
Mbavu Destroyer, however, responded angrily, dismissing Majembe’s claims and accusing him of showing off after a fight.
He said that the money Majembe got after the fight had been quickly used to buy a phone, adding that he believed Majembe was uneducated and lacked wisdom.
Mbavu further questioned why Majembe was taking videos to prove the phone he had, insisting that such behaviour was unnecessary. He said it was important to be wise and sharp, claiming that Majembe might only have a phone cover and not the actual device he was showing off.
“You got a little money after the fight and rushed to buy a phone, that’s why I keep saying you are uneducated, you didn’t go to school. Why are you even taking pictures so I can see your new phone? It is important to be wise and sharp, my brother. I know you were left with just a phone cover, that’s what you are showing off,” he said.
