Maureen Waititu shares struggles of raising her second born

Maureen Waititu has opened up about the challenges of raising her second born child.

On Tuesday, January 6, 2025, she said her son has been giving her a hard time lately, especially when it comes to eating.

“Parents, how are you guys dealing with the second borns because!!!! Mine has been driving me a little crazy lately,” she said.

She explained that her child is very active and a poor feeder, making meal times stressful.

The latest incident occurred when Maureen discovered food hidden in an unusual place.

“Today was that day—I found spaghetti and mince meat in the dustbin which he pushed under his bed. I had served him for dinner yesterday—he didn’t finish and he said he would finish later,” she explained.

The discovery left her feeling a mix of relief and surprise.

“When I saw the empty bowl later, I was so happy to know that he ate,” Maureen added.

She said that her son’s high activity levels contribute to his skinny frame, which makes monitoring his nutrition even more important.

Understanding the second born

Maureen reflected on how secondborn children can experience childhood differently from their siblings. She admitted that the incident gave her a new perspective on parenting multiple children.

“Wah! I now understand when they say that siblings experience different childhoods,” she said.

She also shared a moment of regret, acknowledging that she had disciplined her son in a way that made her feel bad afterward.

“Aki I’ve felt so bad because I’ve chapad him,” she confessed.

Her experience shows common challenges parents face with second borns, who may have different needs and behaviors than firstborns. Maureen’s candid reflections show the importance of patience and understanding in parenting. She also noticed that every child is unique, and methods that work for one may not work for another.

Maureen’s story serves as a reminder that parenting is not always straightforward. Feeding, discipline, and attention can be more complicated with younger siblings, especially those with high energy levels. Her transparency encourages other parents to recognize the differences between their children and adapt their approach.

Maureen hopes to normalize the struggles many parents face with second born children. She emphasizes that moments of frustration are part of the journey but can lead to better understanding and stronger bonds between parents and children.
