Marion opens up on trauma after viral clip, says parents were deeply affected

Marion Naipei, the young woman who went viral after a video showing her intoxicated in a compromising situation circulated online, has opened up about the emotional and personal toll the incident has taken on her life.

Speaking during an interview with content creator 2mbili on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Naipei detailed how the incident affected her mental well-being, family relationships, and livelihood.

Naipei revealed that she is 23 years old and a mother to a four-year-old child. She said the man involved was someone she had met through an online dating site, and they had been communicating for some time before agreeing to meet.

Naipei said she became aware that the video was circulating on social media after a friend alerted her and informed her that she was trending on Telegram.

Upon seeing the clip, she said she was immediately traumatised, especially because her child was nearby at the time.

Alisema ebu keti ni kitu serious, akaniambia uko Telegram, you are trending,” she recalled.

She explained that the fear of the video spreading across multiple platforms and being seen by her family and community caused overwhelming distress.

Family fallout and emotional strain

Naipei disclosed that her father had been shown the video before she could explain what had happened, which caused serious tension at home.

“Mzae ndio alionyeshwa wa kwanza sasa yeye anaenda home anagombanisha mathe ebu ona msichana wako vitu anafanya Nairobi,” she said.

She said her father later called her in anger, and attempts by others to intervene and calm the situation were unsuccessful. As a result, she decided to leave Nairobi temporarily and travel to the Coast to cope with the pressure.

Following the incident, Naipei said her siblings have not contacted her, leaving her feeling isolated. She also revealed that a person who had been assisting her financially stopped supporting her after seeing the video, further compounding her difficulties.

Naipei clarified that Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has only been supporting her as a concerned individual and not in any official capacity. She urged the public to stop harassing him.

Seeking justice

Naipei stated that she has not seen the man who recorded her since the incident and has reported the matter to the police, insisting he had no authority to record or publish the footage.

While she acknowledged that she is not ready to completely quit alcohol, she said she is considering reducing her intake as part of her recovery process. She maintained that she is seeking justice and hopes to rebuild her life after the ordeal.
