Lydia Wanjiru shocked after paying Ksh1,600 for 2 pairs of sausages at a hotel

Lydia Wanjiru has spoken out after being charged Ksh1,600 for two pairs of sausages at a hotel, a price she says left her completely shocked.
On Sunday, December 14, 2025, through Instagram, she questioned how such a cost was possible, especially after checking what sausages sell for elsewhere, and admitted the experience caught her off guard.
“Guys, I’m still shocked,” Lydia said as she reacted to the bill. “How are two pairs of sausages 1,600/=?”
She made it clear that while she understood she was dining at a hotel, the amount still did not make sense to her.

Lydia explained that she took time to confirm the usual prices before drawing her conclusion.
“I know it’s a hotel, but a packet of 26 pcs is 780/=,” she said, adding that she did not rely on guesswork.
“I confirmed with two staff, and 800/ is the price for a pair.”
Despite the explanation given, the final amount still bothered her.
“Weeeh ok ama ni mimi sina pesa?” she asked, expressing disbelief over how quickly the cost added up for such a simple order.
Lesson learnt
The experience pushed Lydia to reflect on how she handles prices when eating out. She admitted that the situation was a lesson she will not forget anytime soon.
“Nitajifunza kuuliza price before,” she said, noting that she plans to be more careful going forward.

Lydia’s words show that the issue was not just about paying but about the wide difference between expected and actual costs.
At the time of the incident, Lydia was in Malindi for a vacation. The trip comes shortly after she unveiled a new body following a tummy tuck and a BBL. She has previously said she would show off her body properly after healing.
Lydia recently shared that she was 40 days post-op, marking a key recovery milestone. Since travelling, she has been sharing short clips from her trip, showing moments from her time away.
The sausage bill may have been a small part of her vacation, but it clearly stood out.
