Content creator Lydia Wanjiru has raised concerns over the role of religion in elections, saying some followers can be easily influenced during voting.

On Friday, March 20, 2026, she shared her views while urging people to think carefully about voter registration and decision-making. According to her, religion and politics are closely linked in ways that affect how people vote.

“And just so you know and need more convincing to register for voting, those same religious followers are the largest in number and easily manipulated by politicians to vote for them,” Lydia Wanjiru said.

She explained that large numbers of religious followers make them a key target for politicians during elections. According to her, this group can influence outcomes because of their size. She suggested that this makes them vulnerable to political messaging.

Lydia Wanjiru also spoke about the relationship between religious leaders and the government. She claimed that the connection between the two sides plays a role in how politics is carried out. She said this relationship raises questions about influence.

“Religious leaders work hand in hand with the government,” she said.

Religion-politics link questioned

She further explained that religious institutions often receive politicians in places of worship. According to her, these visits are sometimes presented as donations. She said this creates a close link between leaders and political figures.

“That’s why they don’t pay tax and always welcome politicians in worship places for ‘donations’,” Lydia Wanjiru explained.

She also questioned certain practices among some followers, saying they show how easily people can be influenced. According to her, such actions reflect how belief can affect decision-making. She used this to support her concerns about elections.

“If they are worshipping and collecting soil that another human has stepped on, imagine how gullible they are!” she said.

Lydia Wanjiru maintained that these factors combined can shape voting patterns. She explained that when large groups are influenced, it can affect election outcomes. She urged people to think critically when making political decisions.

She added that understanding these dynamics is important during election periods. According to her, voters should be aware of how influence works. She said this can help people make independent choices at the ballot.
