Laws only apply to the poor: Kenyan Prince explains driving cars without number plates
By Charles Ouma, January 27, 2026Controversial forex trader Raymond Omosa, popularly known as Kenyan Prince, has knowingly explained breaking Kenyan laws by driving cars without number plates, saying that Kenyan laws are only applicable to the poor, and he is not in that class.
In an interview on Iko Nini Podcast on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the content creator exuded confidence that his deep pockets can always get him out of trouble, adding that for now, he prefers driving cars without plates.
Asked if he is aware that he breaks Kenyan laws by driving cars without number plates, Prince said that Kenyan laws are only applicable to the poor, and boasted that by all standards, he is a wealthy man.

“Najua. Mimi si criminal. Kenyan laws zinawakingi jwa maskini. Mimi simaskini. Tuambieni ukweli (Kenyan laws are only applied when you are poor, and I am not poor. Let us be honest with each other,” he told Mwafreeka.
Why he does not need number plates
He reiterated that with his cars easy to be identified on Kenyan roads, he has no business, at least for now, having plates fixed on his cars.
“I don’t need plates on the roads; they make the cars ugly,” he added.
He hinted at knowingly flaunting Kenyan laws with the confidence that money can always get him out of trouble, referencing a past incident in which he was filmed with a police officer at a traffic situation on the road.
“Where did it go? What was the ultimate end of that thing? Unaona Kenya, it is only the poor who lose. Ni maskini ndio hupoteza (In Kenya, it is the poor who lose. Ni maskini ndio hupoteza).
He also said that he can foot court fines with ease and continue driving cars with no plates, claiming that the fines for such an offence are something he can pay daily for the rest of his life.
“What is the worst that can happen if I move around without a number plate? Take me to a court of law nilipe faini ya elfu tano then again kesho nikuje nienede bila number plate. I can pay Ksh5000 every day for the rest of my life and nothing will happen, unanielewa?”
What will make Kenyan Prince change his mind
According to Kenyan Prince, his cars are wrapped and stand out, serving the purpose of a number plate, whose main purpose, he claimed, is identity.

“Mimi niliona kuliko plates niweke outstanding wraps for identity. Gari yangu ikipita hapa, almost everybody will know ni Kenyan Prince. (I opted to use outstanding wraps for identity instead of number plates. Almost everybody can recognise my car at first sight),” he said.
He added that for now, he has figured out how to get around existing systems and enforcements, adding that stricter enforcement of Kenyan laws may make him change his mind.
