Becky, the woman who went viral after publicly declaring her love for comedian and media personality Oga Obinna, has spoken out, insisting that her emotional confession was genuine and not for attention or fame.

The Nairobi-based woman explained in an interview on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, with content creator Trudy Kitui that her feelings for Obinna have been growing for several years.

She had admired him quietly but decided it was time to be open about her emotions, feeling honesty was the right approach.

“I have seen him for years, and I just felt it was time to be honest about how I feel,” she said.

Not for clout or fame

Becky rejected claims that her viral video was a publicity stunt, saying she is not seeking followers, money, or fame. Her admiration is personal, rooted in what she sees as Obinna’s character, intelligence, confidence, and talent.

“This isn’t about clout. I’m not on social media for followers. My interest is genuine,” she explained. She emphasised that her feelings go beyond his public persona, focusing on who he is off-camera.

She expressed confidence in herself, believing she matches Obinna’s type and that they would complement each other well.

“I know I’m his type, and I feel we could be great together,” Becky said. She described herself as bold and unafraid to share her feelings, explaining that her decision to go public was intentional.

When asked why she had not reached out privately before, Becky said she wanted to approach the situation on her own terms.

“Being open and direct was the best way for me to communicate my feelings,” she noted, placing honesty above how the message would be received online.

She emphasised that her interest in Obinna is not influenced by his celebrity status or wealth, but rather by her desire to build a genuine connection.

Becky also encouraged other women to be confident and unapologetic in expressing what they want in life. “Fear holds people back, but I want women to take chances when it matters,” she said.
