Lady in viral Russian video says she doesn’t regret meeting him
By Paulette Mboga, February 21, 2026Choice Gatwiri, the Nairobi lady seen in a viral video with a Russian man, has said she does not regret meeting him.
In a TV interview on Saturday, February 21, 2026, she explained that the meeting was simple and social.
“We are just young and socialising. I don’t regret meeting the Russian guy. Kila mtu atatongozwa,” she said, emphasising that her actions were innocent and personal.
Choice said the encounter should not be judged harshly. She insisted that young people sometimes meet and socialise without any ill intentions. Her statement comes amid online discussions and speculation surrounding the viral video.

She also acknowledged the pressure and attention that followed the video. Choice said she hoped her words would clarify the situation and calm any misunderstandings.
“Kila mtu atatongozwa,” she said, explaining that people make their own choices.
Taking responsibility amid public concern
In addition to defending her actions, Choice took a proactive step to ensure her health was clear. She took an HIV test live on camera after growing pressure to confirm her status following claims that the Russian man was positive.
The test was conducted during an interview with Kikuyu podcaster Muhia Wa Maingi on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
In the video, Choice is seen being handed a testing kit by Muhia. She drew blood from her finger while visibly trembling and awaiting the results. She admitted feeling nervous and uncertain about how she would react if the test came back positive.
“Yeah, let’s test for my sake. Omg, I am very tense and very nervous. If I have HIV, don’t judge me,” she said.
Choice explained that she did not want to wait until it was too late to know her status. She chose to take the test publicly to show transparency and calm herself.
“I am sweating, but I have decided that people must know the truth, and that is why I have agreed to take the test,” she added.
Choice sought to remove speculation and set the record straight while addressing public concern about her health.
