Lady in viral Russian man’s video takes HIV test live on camera amid trending controversy
By Steve Ireri, February 21, 2026Nairobi lady Choice Gatwiri, who is among the women who met the viral Russian guy, has taken an HIV test live on camera amid growing pressure to make her status public following claims that the man was positive.
Choice took the test during an interview with Kikuyu podcaster Muhia Wa Maingi on Saturday, February 21, 2026, revealing that she did so partly to calm herself down.
In the video, she is seen being handed a testing kit by Muhia and proceeding to draw blood from her finger, visibly trembling as she awaited the outcome.
She admitted feeling extremely nervous, uncertain about how the test would turn out and how she would react if it came back positive.
At the same time, Choice explained that she had decided not to wait until it was too late to know her status and had chosen to let the public know the results.
“Yeah, let’s test for the sake of myself. Omg, I am very tense and very nervous. If I have HIV, don’t judge me. I am sweating, but I have decided that people must know the truth, and that is why I have agreed to take the test,” she shared.

The test came back negative, leaving her relieved and thanking God that she had not contracted the deadly disease.
Message to Ruto
Elsewhere, the lady publicly apologised to President William Ruto.
In a candid conversation with digital content creator 2mbili in an episode aired on Monday, February 16, 2026, Choice said that she was unaware that her recorded videos would be shared online without her consent.
“I just want to say this, Mr President, that I am at a dating stage in my life, and I did not know they would be posted online without my consent. I am sorry this is not who I am,” Choice apologised.
She described the recording as a violation that happened during what she termed her vulnerable moments, adding that she never imagined she would trend for such reasons.
“It was so wrong that he recorded me during my vulnerable moments with him and posted me. I am not that type of person, I am very ambitious, and I never saw myself trending in this way,” she added.
Choice also apologised to her parents, close friends and the country, acknowledging the disappointment the situation may have caused.
In addition, she urged Kenyans not to judge her based on the trending video.
“I am sorry to my parents and true friends, and I am sorry to my country,” Choice added.
“Please, guys, do not judge me by just a clip, this is not what I do. I am a content creator, and I have a lot of potential, and that is why I know people are disappointed, especially my family and close friends.”
